When working with a client, I strongly believe there are two important factors to consider: the science and the individual. I firmly believe its important to weave both together for best outcomes and healing.
I generally practice from a cognitive behavioral approach, incorporating other treatment modalities as appropriate for each individual patient.
I work to provide trauma-informed care. I believe in being direct yet empathetic. I often discuss positive communication strategies and work to use those same strategies within my practice.

Personal experience with a sibling’s medical diagnosis led me to find Pediatric Psychology where my focus was still on the younger population, but with individuals with medical concerns and focusing on how those medical diagnoses affect mental health. I also developed a much stronger passion to support parents, after experiencing my own symptoms of a perinatal mood and anxiety disorder. My step into group practice will allow me to continue to support children, parents, and families in the larger, broader community.
Outside of work, I am a mom of two amazing and busy kids. My husband and I love being outdoors with our kids on hiking adventures or being in the house playing board games together. When I get time to myself, I love reading, dancing in my kitchen, watching college football and basketball, and going for a
run. I firmly believe if I am going to talk the talk of getting you to care for yourself, I must also walk the walk and care for myself as well, so I continue to try and enjoy these activities as much as possible.
I’m thankful you are allowing me to be a part of your journey. If you have any questions at all, please feel free to reach out to me at shannon@sequoiatherapygroup.com or by using our contact form.
